The article details the phenomenon of “performative workaholism” of millennial hustle culture. Work never ends for this generation, and it is further exacerbated by social media, where blindly optimistic slogans such as “Hustle Harder” and “Thank God It’s Monday” are relentlessly propagated. Hustle culture dictates that millennials should not only endure their work, but love what they do – which is perhaps this generation’s own escapist way of coming to terms with the demands of contemporary capitalism. As the author comments, if millennials are doomed to toil their lifetimes away within this capitalist system, they might as well pretend to enjoy it.
