The section for Unseen Texts usually provides the greatest challenge for most students, because the usual preparation for core texts before the examinations is not available. Students are not allowed the luxury of memorising passages of analysis or repeating core thematic concerns.

A systematic approach will go a long way in removing the common fears faced by students in their reading of a completely new passage, and enabling them to produce thoughtful and coherent responses.
